trade and commerce for centuries, serving as a gateway to the ancient Silk Road.
The region has a rich history that dates back to the 8th century when it was
ruled by the Tibetan Empire. Later, it came under the control of various local
rulers and dynasties, including the Maqpon dynasty, which ruled Skardu from the
16th to the 19th century. In the 19th century, Skardu came under the control of
the Dogra dynasty of Jammu and Kashmir, which ruled the region until 1947 when
Pakistan gained independence from British colonial rule. Since then, Skardu has
been a part of Pakistan and has played an important role in the development of
the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Today, Skardu is a popular tourist destination
